The City Council of Sant Josep will reinforce with special teams the surveillance to fine cars parked on the road to Cala d’Hort and thus avoid the collapse that is generated on the road in the tourist season, especially after the affected neighbors have closed the accesses and parking lots of the esplanades that are crowded to watch the sunset over es Vedrà.
The mayor, Vicent Roig, on Wednesday fully supported the initiative of the owners to prevent the invasion of their land and announced that a fine of 3,000 euros will be imposed on vehicles that park on the side of the road.
Although he was in favor of some owner being able to manage a parking lot, Roig stressed that it is now time to prioritize safety. “There [en Cala d’Hort] there are some heritage assets that should be opened, but, first of all, private property and the conservation of these assets must be respected, as there were people who even took stones as souvenirs,” said Roig. He also lamented that, in just a few days, the fences installed to protect the grounds have already been vandalized on two occasions. “It is one thing to have tourism, but whoever does not respect, has no place on this island,” he said.
Patrols
Faced with the possible collapse of the road that could lead to the closure of access roads and parking lots, the mayor announced that special cameras are already being tested for local police patrols. Thus, with just one officer’s vehicle, they will be able to automatically register all the license plates of badly parked cars.
“The fine for endangering one’s own circulation and the evacuation of the area is 3,000 euros. Anyone who parks on the road will receive this sanction,” he warned.
