The world-renowned musician Yann Tiersen will offer a concert in Formentera in October

The Sala de Cultura (Cinema) will host on October 10 at 9 p.m a concert by the internationally renowned French musician and composer, Yann Tiersen one of the leading exponents of minimalism. The Consell de Formentera confirms that this is the first visit of the author to the island and that he arrives by the hand of Fona Fall Fest, Fonart’s autumn festival, to present his concert Yann Tiersen : Solo Piano Electronics and will coincide with the celebration of the Tardor d’Art.

This recital is part of a tour whose logistical particularity is that Tiersen prioritizes sustainable travel and travels from one city to another using his sailing boator by motorhome wherever there is no port. The musician does so according to strict rules that include neither using highways nor traveling more than 320 kilometers per day. With this tour his goal is to establish personal connections during the tripand meet people and places that are impossible to visit with the restrictions of traditional concert series.

A rebel composer

Yann Tiersen rose to international fame in 2001 as a composer of soundtracks and is the author of the music of films such as ‘Amélie’ (2001), ‘Goodbye Lenin!’ (2003) or ‘Tabarly’ (2008). However, his career is much more than soundtracks. After studying violin and piano from the age of six to fourteen, he considered the possibility of becoming an orchestra conductor, but was inspired by Joy Division and The Stooges to delve into post-punk during the second half of the eighties.

It was the first intrepid step in a trajectory that has been nourished and polished by melancholic extravagances. Their discography includes a dozen titles, as well as three soundtracks and three live albums.
