All parties represented in the Parliament will support the bill presented by Més per Menorca to prevent and eradicate the celebration of illegal parties and nuisance activities in tourist homes in the Balearic Islands, although the different political formations reserve the last word for the negotiations that will be opened tomorrow after the consideration of the initiative.
The proposal includes fines of up to 30,000 euros in case there is a celebration or organization of parties or any other activity that may cause nuisance to neighbors between 11 pm and 8 am in these properties.
Also, the ecosoberanistas propose that, in case they are sanctioned on several occasions, the loss of the tourist license, that is, “of the effects of the responsible declaration of initiation of tourist activity for this activity, as well as the prohibition to submit a new declaration for a maximum period of three years”.
Both PSIB and Més per Mallorca confirm their support to the initiative. While the former do not trust the position of the PP because they consider that “they always say one thing and do the opposite”, the spokesman of the ecosoberanistas, Lluís Apesteguia, defends that these are very important measures for citizens because this type of parties “make life difficult” for residents.
Public health problem
The PP confirms its support for this initiative because it considers that these parties are “a problem” for the welfare of the neighbors and, therefore, they want to ensure the welfare and coexistence “so that there is no discomfort among citizens”.
In addition, they recall that these parties may pose a public health problem because they have no health control: “It does not correspond to the image that the Government and the island councils want to give the Balearic Islands as a tourist destination, so we will study each and every one of the points and talk to the entire sector, because we agree to put all kinds of corrective and punitive measures to end this illegal activity.
For her part, the spokeswoman for Vox, Manuela Cañadas, is “absolutely in agreement” with the proposal of Més because she considers that “it is not acceptable” that there are illegal parties in homes when there is a debate on the need for citizens to live with tourism: “It is not acceptable that in your building or in your area there are some savages throwing a party and you can not rest, it seems coherent to me”.
