Ibiza premieres on Saturday the music series Nights at the Baluarte

The three music sessions will be completed with performances on 18 August and 8 September.

On Saturday the 29th of July, the Ibiza Town Hall Culture Department will launch the music series Noches en el Baluarte (Nights at the Presidium) featuring Pedro Mateo González and Yerai Cortés. The concerts will be held in the Baluarte de Sant Pere and will start at 9 pm. Admission is free.

“The aim of this initiative, which includes three musical sessions that are completed with performances on August 18 and September 8, is to expand the cultural offerings in the municipality of Ibiza and attract more people to Dalt Vila to energize the area with the excuse of music,” explained the Councilor for Culture, Carmen Dominguez.

About the artists who will participate in the first session of Nights at the Baluarte this Saturday, Pedro Mateo González (classical guitar) has performed as a soloist with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León, the Orquesta Nacional de Ecuador or the Orquesta Sinfónica de Balears under the direction of Alejandro Bustamante, Alejandro Posadas, Adrian Leaper or Leo Brouwer, and has performed in important halls in Europe, Asia and America as in the Philarmonie in Berlin or Jordan Hall in Boston. In addition, he has made recordings for national radio stations in Spain and Germany and has recorded several programs for Naxos and Eudora.

In his artistic career he has also won prestigious competitions such as the 2009 Boston Guitar Fest or the 66th edition of the Permanent Competition of Juventudes Musicales. Currently, he combines his concert activity with master classes in different festivals and as a professor at the Conservatory of the Balearic Islands.

For his part, Yerai Cortés (Alicante, 1995), flamenco guitarist, has inherited his passion for flamenco music from his father, Miguel Cortés, whom he listened to play the guitar since he was a child. Of his many collaborations with artists, the ones that stand out are his participations with artists such as Farruquito, Rocío Molina, Alejandro Sanz or C.Tangana.

The next concert included in the program will be on August 18, by tenor Joan Carles Rodríguez, soprano Irantzu Bartolomé and pianist Elvira Ramón, who will offer a performance of opera arias. On September 8, pianist Elvira Ramón, soprano Lucía Herranz and flamenco dancer Rocío Osuna will perform.
