“We’ve seen it more than once, but we never got there in time to take the photo,” says F. M., a resident of Platja d’en Bossa, about the image she captured this Sunday afternoon: a tourist risking his life by passing from one balcony to another at a hotel in the area. “It was just after eight o’clock, I was coming back from a walk with my dog and my family around the neighbourhood when we saw them,” the woman says. “When we turned into Fray Luis de León street, which leads to the back of the hotel, to get to the promenade, my mother shouted, pointing to the façade. And then we saw them,” she continues.
At that moment, they saw how a young man from a larger group crossed from one balcony to another on the third floor. A third floor that, according to the witness, is actually like a fourth or fifth floor, since the first floor, housing the hotel dining room, is particularly high and, in addition, since it is the back part, there is the basement, with the accesses to the laundry and other hotel services, which are one level below the street.
He climbed over the railing and went to the other balcony
Those who contemplated the scene do not even want to think what would have happened if the young man, instead of crossing from balcony to balcony csn successfully had slipped or let go of the column and plunged into the void. “A misfortune. One more,” he concludes.
