UD Ibiza continues to struggle to find the net

The celestial team UD Ibiza played one of their flattest and dullest games of the season and gone four matches without a win or a goal

The goal was not the only thing that eluded UD Ibiza yesterday in their visit to the stadium of Lugo Anxo Carro. The Ibizan team, which recorded their ninth draw in 19 matches, barely created any chances in a dull and lackluster game against CD Lugo (0-0). The Celestes played one of their flattest and dull games of the season and have now gone four games without a win and without a goal in Second Division.

Carcedo introduced several changes compared to the last defeat at home to Ponferradina. Thinking of a more direct style of football, the Riojan brought back Castel to the starting line-up and lined up Gálvez and Juan Ibiza at centre-back, with Nono, Herrera and Bogusz in the second line of attack. Escobar was also chosen to replace the suspended Morillas at left-back.

After a shaky start from both teams, Carrillo created the first big chance after 12 minutes when he controlled a ball formidably in the six-yard box. The Celeste defence reacted in time to clear the ball for a corner, after which Lebedenko fired a powerful shot from the edge of the area that was narrowly saved by Manu Molina. Carcedo’s men did not hesitate and launched quick counter-attacks thanks to the combination of pressure and steals.

9 Draws in 19 games for the Celestes

UD Ibiza continue to draw with 9 in 19 games. The Ibizan maintained a clean sheet to salvage a point in Lugo, but have now gone 4 games without seeing goal. Carcedo’s side have only scored 1 goal in the last 6 games.

The game was coming to life and after a good transition from Lugo, it was Juanpe who hooked a tight right-footed shot that Germán cleared with his left hand. Lugo were pressing, and by the half hour mark they had already found eight corners. However, the Celeste side were performing much better in defence than with the ball at their feet.
