Marta Torres notes in his year-end analysis: “From January to June, traffic recovery data were extremely limited, with only a third of passengers (32.6 %) and 55% of aircraft movements in Ibiza returning to pre-pandemic levels.” However, activity recovered: “The second half of the year saw a complete turnaround. With the improvement of health conditions, advancements in vaccination plans, and the elimination of measures that restricted or hindered people’s mobility, traffic increased significantly beginning in July and coinciding with the peak months of the high season. In this regard, he emphasizes that “during the peak months of July and August, aircraft operations recovered at a rate of greater than 95% when compared to the equivalent months in 2019.”
Around one million passengers were recovered, representing a 70% and 74% recovery rate, respectively. Since July, passenger recovery has been improving month by month, with November records in passengers (93.5 %) and aircraft movement in Ibiza (108.4 %) very close to those of 2019″. Torres notes that between July and November, “the recovery of traffic has been remarkable.” In these five months, nearly the same number of aircraft have moved as in 2019 (99% recovery), and passenger traffic has increased to 76 %, owing to the fact that occupancy factors have been below historical norms throughout the year.”
