A French tourist experienced a concerning incident shortly after arriving in Ibiza from Paris on April 26th, when she discovered a sting on her left shin and another on her foot. Staying in es Cubells, Sant Josep, she noticed the marks after undressing, suspecting an arachnid might be responsible, although medical professionals have yet to confirm the exact cause. One sting quickly became swollen and reddish, while the other formed a cyst-like appearance, leading her to seek medical advice. After visiting a pharmacy and later a polyclinic, she was treated for an allergic reaction to the sting. Despite not showing typical signs of infection such as fever, she was prescribed antibiotics and is currently on a stronger antibiotic recommended by a friend who is a doctor. The incident, which left her with significant discomfort and uncertainty about the sting’s origin, echoes a recent similar case involving a local worker and recalls a severe arachnid bite incident from summer 2021 involving a British tourist.
