The project includes repaving works designed to improve safety, traffic flow and access to rural areas across the municipality.

The Sant Joan de Labritja Town Council has launched a tender for the improvement of several rural roads across the municipality, with a starting budget of €183,960.51 excluding VAT.

The contract forms part of the municipality’s 2026 programme of planned infrastructure works and focuses primarily on repaving roads that require improvements.

Repaving works to improve safety and accessibility

The project will involve the repaving of several rural routes, with the aim of improving their overall condition and making them easier and safer to use.

According to the municipality, the works are intended to improve traffic circulation while strengthening safety and accessibility for local residents who rely on these roads on a daily basis.

The investment will also help continue the gradual improvement of Sant Joan’s rural road network, which plays an especially important role given the dispersed nature of the municipality’s population.

Rural roads provide access to homes and key areas

Many of the roads included in the project provide direct access to homes in rural areas, as well as connecting residents with different parts of the municipality.

Maintaining these routes is therefore considered essential for ensuring reliable mobility and access in a municipality where homes and communities are spread across a large rural territory.

The council says continued investment in this infrastructure is necessary to ensure that residents can travel safely and reach their homes and other areas of Sant Joan de Labritja in suitable conditions.

Companies have until September 28 to submit bids

The contract is being put out to tender through a simplified open procedure, with companies required to submit their bids electronically.

Interested businesses have until 2pm on September 28, 2026, to submit their proposals.

The contract is registered under tender file 1883/2026 and is officially aimed at the improvement of various rural roads in the municipality during 2026.

The investment forms part of the council’s wider commitment to maintaining and upgrading rural infrastructure, helping to improve everyday mobility and access throughout Sant Joan.
