Sonitec case: “Miguel Tur should not handle public money for 1 more minute”

The opposition of Sant Antoni asks the mayor and Miguel Tur to take "political responsibility".

PSOE-Reinicia, El Pi and Unidas Podemos demanded yesterday that the mayor, Marcos Serra, the councilor for Fiestas, Miguel Tur, and the PP “assume political responsibilities” after learning the contents of the comptroller’s reports in cases where there were omissions in the audit. “The comptroller’s report (having warned of the repeated misconduct) certifies that the department of Fiestas and the mayor knew they were acting outside the law,” says Joan Torres, councilman for El Pi, for whom “the modus operandi of the department of Fiestas and Miguel Tur looks worse every day that passes. Verbal contracting is forbidden and that is exactly what has been doing all the mandate”. He calculates that “having made verbal contracts without other quotes, may have resulted in the required services being much more expensive”. That is why he considers that “these proven facts must make the PP reconsider and take political responsibility, and not continue to hide and look the other way”.

Fernando Gomez, spokesman for Unidas Podemos, points out that “the PP of Sant Antoni is cornered”, since the “the City Council’s own workers confirm that more than one million euros have been paid to Sonitec without respecting the law”.

“They are desperate. But it is not enough given the seriousness of the facts, we demand immediate political responsibility. If they want our support [to approve the credit for the tender in the Department of Fiestas] they will have to assume political responsibility”
