Ibiza hotel sold for record price in Spain: €200 million

This is one of the island's hotel jewels, whose purchase and sale operation has been under negotiation for several months

After several months of negotiations, one of Ibiza’s most emblematic hotels changes hands. The Italian company Gruppo Statuto has acquired the hotel from Beachbox Hotelco Six Senses Hotel as published today by El Economista. This newspaper assures that the Italian group has paid a record price for this establishment in Spain: around 200 million euros.

The Ibizan hotel complex, which is located in Portinatx, has 116 rooms, so that Statuto would be paying around 1.7 million per stay.

Expanding group

The Gruppo Statuto is an Italian company that aims to expand its hotel business worldwide. In August last year it made its debut in the Spanish market with the purchase of a hotel in Ibiza: the W Ibiza, located in Santa Eulària. The W Hotel (formerly the Orquídea), which Statuto purchased from Scala Capital y managed by Marriott, has 125 rooms and 37 suites.

The Italian group owns, among others, the Four Seasons in Milan, the Mandarin in Milan and the Danieli in Venice. In October 2023 it acquired the five-star Six Senses Rome (from Orion Capital) for 245 million euros, becoming the italy’s highest hotel transaction and one of the highest in Europe (€2.6 million per room).

The Six Senses Hotel in Ibiza became, since its opening, one of the best in the world. Last year it was recognized as one of the best hotels on the planet in the first edition of The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2023held in London. The list, compiled by 580 independent experts, is 50 Best’s first foray into the travel space and its first new global ranking since the launch of The World’s 50 Best Bars in 2009.

Six Senses Ibiza is one of the two hotels in Spain and the only one in the Balearic Islands included in the inaugural ranking of The World’s 50 Best Hotels, which recognizes a total of 21 hotels in Europe, 18 in Asia, three in Africa, six in North America, one in Africa and one in Oceania. The list highlights the most outstanding hotel experiences from around the world.
