15 migrants arrive on Ibiza aboard two small boats

The good sea conditions are favouring the arrival of migrants on this type of vessel.

An operation comprised of Guardia Civil agents and the Sant Josep Policía Local has detected imigrants who have arrived in Ibiza on board two small boats at Platja d’en Bossa, near the Grand Palladium hotel. The good sea conditions are favoring the arrival of these boats from the coasts of North Africa. Yesterday at least three boats with 35 migrants on board arrived on the coast of Formentera.

According to the Government Delegation in the Balearic Islands, one of the boats reached the coast at 9:30am. It was carrying 14 people of North African origin. One of them was arrested, the skipper of the boat, for an alleged offence of encouraging irregular immigration.

The second boat arrived on the coast of Platja d’en Bossa at 9:45am. 15 people were on board, two of North African origin, 12 of sub-Saharan origin and one of Indian origin. Two people have been arrested from this boat, also for an alleged offence of encouraging irregular immigration.

All the migrants are in apparent good health.
