Man in critical condition due to chimney fire in Can Fornet

The injured man has been transferred to the burns unit of the Hospital la Fe in Valencia

A man has suffered “serious burns” and is in a “critical condition” after an accident with a fireplace inside his home in the Can Fornet neighbourhood of Santa Eulària. According to the Ibiza and Formentera Health Department, the injured man is 31 years old and of Italian nationality. The man was initially taken by SAMU061 to the Hospital de Can Misses, where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at 8 pm. Once stabilised, he was transferred to the Burn Unit of the Hospital de la Fe, in Valencia. The prognosis is “reserved” and his condition “critical”.

The facts have happened this Thursday at 18.41 hours, when the tenant of this house was “affected by a deflagration when lighting the fireplace,” as reported by the Insular Fire Department in their social networks. When firefighters have arrived at the scene, the fire was already extinguished. The house was also attended by agents of the Local Police of Santa Eulària and SAMU061 personnel.
