Yesterday, underwater photographer Joan Pereyra captured the image of a jellyfish of enormous dimensions. The aquatic animal, which belongs to the Rhizostoma luteum species, was photographed in Cala Olivera, in the municipality of Santa Eulària.
Apparently, this is a very rare species to see and one that normally has 70 centimeters in diameter and one meter long. Although the most impressive fact is that jellyfish of this type can weigh a total of up to 40 kg.
Pereyra dives every day of the year in search of new marine critters to photograph and document. By this time last summer, he had identified 89 marine species in Ibiza since the day he started this passion, as he told this newspaper during an interview.
