It is not a passing fad. On the contrary, the increase of private jet traffic on Ibiza is an steadily growing trend, according to data from the European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) made public on Twitter by air traffic controllers. Thus, from January to November of last year, the Ibiza airport handled 15,900 movements of jets (between landings and take-offs), which made it the tenth terminal in the network of Eurocontrol with the most flights of this type, representing 9% growth compared to the same period in 2021.
Es Coldar expected to close the year with 16,000 private jet flights
Bearing in mind that the December data have yet to be added to this statistic, it is very likely that the es Codolar terminal will close last year with over 16,000 private jet operations.
Holding the 9th position, also with data up to November, is the Majorcan airport of Son Sant Joan, which in its case managed 18,855 private jets, just 2,955 more movements than that of Ibiza.
The two Balearic terminals are the only Spanish terminals in the top ten European positions for this type of traffic.
