Carnival begins this week in Ibiza. The Dijous Llarder celebration will kick off the most fun festivities on the calendar. Like every year, the different municipalities on the island hold their Carnival rúas on different days, allowing the comparsas to attend and participate in several of the carnival parade
Ibiza Carnival Rua
The Ibiza Town Hall organizes its carnival parade on saturday, February 10 at 5 p.mwhich has been a surprise, since traditionally (except for a couple of years ago) was held on the morning of Carnival Sunday. The procession will start from Santa Eulària avenue and will pass through Bartomeu de Rosselló, Isidor Macabich avenue, País Valencià street and España avenue. The arrival point will be Vara de Rey. The concentration of the comparsas will take place in Santa Eulària Avenue at 3.30 pm.
The Department of Festivities has informed that will distribute 18,000 euros6,000 more than in 2023, among the winners of the five categories: school groups, social groups, dance academies, groups in general and individual or couple.
As pointed out by the City Council in a statement, those interested in participating in the parade will be able to register until February 8 through the electronic headquarters (https://eivissa.sedelectronica.es) and in person at the Citizen’s Attention Service.
Santa Eulària’s Carnival parade
The Santa Eulària parade is scheduled for Shrove Tuesday, february 13with departure at 5 pm from Sant Jaume street. It will run along the streets César Puget Riquer, José Guasch Vich, Sant Jaume, Paseo de s’Alamera and Plaza de España, where there will be a party and prizes will be awarded. In total, 8,000 euros will be distributed in four categories and five special prizes.
Registrations can be made until 3 p.m. on Friday, February 9 at the offices of Culture of the City Council, Calle Sant Jaume, 72.
Carnival of Sant Antoni
Sant Antoni has also chosen the shrove Tuesday, as is tradition, to celebrate its rúa. The rally is scheduled on tuesday 13 February at 4.30 p.m at Avenida Doctor Fleming and departure at 5 pm. It will run along this road until it reaches the Passeig de ses Fonts and turn around. There will be a party and the awards ceremony.
The City Council will distribute 12,000 euros in prizes to the best costumes, troupes and floats, in the categories of children, youth and adult.
Registrations can be made until February 9 at the Centre d’Informació Jove (Espai Jove) or at santantoni.sedelectronica.es
Sant Josep Carnival parade
Sant Josep celebrates this year its parade, which is rotating, in the village of Sant Josep. It will be on saturday, February 10 at 11.30 a.mwith concentration one hour before at Avenida Ditutat Josep Ribas. The route is: Diputat Josep Ribas avenue, Pere Escanelles avenue, Es Cubells avenue, Cas Vildu street, and Pau street.
In total, a maximum of 6,000 euros in prizes will be awarded to the best floats, comparsas and individual or mini-group costumes.
Registrations can be made via registration until February 7 at 14 hours at the City Hall of Sant Josep or in the municipal offices, in the case of individuals. Registrations of legal entities (associations, Apimas…) will be made electronically.
Carnival of Sant Joan
The Sant Joan Carnival parade is planned for the sunday 11 February at 5.30 pm, with registration and meeting time one hour before in the courtyard of the school Labritja, from where it will depart to walk through the center of town.
A total of 3,950 euros in prizes will be distributed among the best costumes and troupes. More information at 971 333003.
Carnival parade in Formentera
Formentera will celebrate its Carnival parade with a great party on sunday, February 11 in Sant Ferran. The meeting of troupes and floats is scheduled at 11 am at the Espai Cultural and the parade, accompanied by the batucada of Bloco Colubraria, is scheduled at 12 noon. At 2 pm there will be a costume dance with dj’s Javi Box and PaDJsa, followed by a popular meal that will be free for those who come in costume.
It will distribute 4,660 euros in prizes among individuals, couples, groups, troupes and floats.
