The Local Police of Sant Antoni have reported the arrest of ten people for the sale of nitrous oxide, known as laughing gas, in the last two police lockdowns carried out in the last week in the nightlife area of the s’Arenal promenade.
These special operatives, consisting of eight uniformed officers, patrol vehicles and motorcycles, consist of the closure of the perimeter area by different accesses and are aimed at combating theft and drug dealing.
The Local Police explains that they arrested four individuals in the first action and six, in the other oneall as alleged perpetrators of a crime against public health, for selling or offering nitrous oxide. In addition, one of them, “was also denounced for attack against the agents of the authority, disobedience and serious resistance”.
Dispensers and cash
The agents seized several nitrous oxide dispensers and cash from the illicit sale of this substance. After the relevant police investigations, the detainees were transferred to the police station dependencies of the Guardia Civil to be placed at the disposal of the judiciary.
The operatives developed by the Local Police of Sant Antoni, which “are developed in the form of periodicallyare part of the security plan summer 2023 and aim to promote peaceful coexistence between tourists and residents, fight against street vending and reduce criminal behavior in the municipality,” said in a statement from the government team of the municipality.
Since the beginning of the security plan, last May 15, to date, the Local Police of Sant Antoni has made 74 arrests for the sale of nitrous oxide in the leisure areas of the municipality.
