A dozen neighbors of Sant Rafel have again filed a complaint in the City Council of Sant Antoni, addressed to Mayor Marcos Serra, for the “continuous and flagrant breaches of environmental regulations and activities carried out by the Amnesia nightclub “. So begins the letter which was registered last Wednesday and in which they request “municipal protection” in order to “prevent the continuation of these illegalities by Amnesia nightclub”.
According to the signatories (who already denounced the situation on July 4th at the City Council), “since the month of May there have been nuisances” and regret that the Consistory does not take action. “We understand that Amnesia nighclub is certain that it can end the summer season without having proceeded to the sealing of the sound and lighting equipment outside, which obviously cause significant damage to the neighbors”.
Amnesia pays neighbors a visit
The neighbors of the houses near the Amnesia establishment add in their letter that all the complaints they have made “have only served to bring to the attention of those responsible for the nightclub that there are people who complain about the nuisance. As a result, those responsible have personally gone to the homes of several of the signatories of the complaint to ask for explanations (with the obvious seriousness of the breach of data protection regulations carried out),” they report.
Given this scenario, the signatories request a copy of all documents and actions carried out by the City Council in relation to the reported facts, as well as the record of calls made to the Policía Local by neighbors and that “should be recorded in the File 4174/2022”. The last call to the Police was made by a neighbor early yesterday morning and she was told “that the procedure is to report the incident to the City Council”. The night before, they insist, “was horrible with an unexpected increase in the volume of music at 2:15am”.
For all these reasons, they demand Sant Antoni “to proceed immediately to adopt the appropriate measures so that, for the remainder of the summer season (barely a month), the neighbors are guaranteed their fundamental right to a good night’s rest”. If they do not do so, “we will proceed to report the facts to the Public Prosecutor’s Office in order to proceed to the study of whether a criminal offense by those responsible for their solution has been committed due to inaction”.
