Ana Juan, President of the Consell, Alejandra Ferrer, Tourism Councilor, and Carlos Berns, Head of Promotion, will attend the International Tourism Fair in Madrid next week (FITUR)

A Formentera delegation will attend the International Tourism Fair in Madrid (Fitur) this week to exhibit the island’s possibilities as a destination for family tourism, environmental enjoyment, gastronomy, heritage, and cultural and sporting activities arranged outside of the high season.

Alejandra Ferrer, Councilor for Tourism and Environment, stated about the season’s expectations: “With the pandemic, people book later, which makes forecasting difficult, but if we look at the interest aroused by the destination through the various portals and online input, we are doing well, [in a situation] very similar to last year. Despite the uncertainty caused by the epidemic, the forecasts are favorable, and we continue to plan for a regular summer while remaining prepared for anything that may occur “.

The Formentera delegation in Fitur will be led by Ana Juan, the president of the Consell, Alejandra Ferrer, and Carlos Berns, the head of Tourism Promotion.

Presence of Formentera in FITUR 2022

Formentera will have a separate section in the Balearic Islands exhibit with various promotional materials at the fair. Meetings with travel magazines, web portals, tour operators, and travel agencies, among others, are among the planned activities.

The Tourism Councilor added that a presentation is planned for January 20th, Balearic Islands Day, in Fitur, which would promote the benefits of the island as a destination at this time. “We will promote the image of Formentera as a safe and sustainable island, thanks to the great amount of open areas with little influx of people that allows you to enjoy [as a tourist] in a safer way,” Ferrer said at the World Travel Market in London.

Projects such as Formentera.eco, which aims to restrict vehicle access in the quest of sustainable transportation, and the Save Posidonia Project, which aims to safeguard posidonia and the coastline, will also be present at the event.

“Despite the uncertainty caused by the epidemic, we are still aiming for a typical summer and are prepared for anything.”
