In recent meetings, the Board of Directors of the Port Authority of the Balearic Islands (APB) agreed to select “the most beneficial options” for public bids for the operation of tourism enterprises in the lighthouses of La Mola (Formentera), Formentor (Mallorca), and Artrutx (Mallorca) (Menorca). As a result, the port agency explains that it will give the relevant license “for the operation of a bar, cafeteria, and restaurant service in each of them.”
In the case of La Mola’s lighthouse, it is a concession granted to the business Something Inversions to administer the two structures, which are placed on an 872 square meter plot on the right side of the enclosure as one enters, where the former Coastguard house and some adjacent garages are located.
This will be the Faro de la Mola’s bar-restaurant in Formentera
The combined area of the two properties is 117.1 square meters. The concessionaire must dedicate 30% of the total site area (872 square meters) to green areas.
The annual occupation cost is 17,219€, to which the APB will add 5,000€  for the improvement provided by the awarded company, plus 4% of annual turnover.
The winning company is situated in Ibiza and is made up of three partners: one from Formentera and two from Ibiza. Vicent Torres, one of them, indicated that they are waiting for the signing of the concession to become effective before requesting building permits for the 350,000€ restoration. They are sure that the new establishment will be ready for the upcoming season, with the objective of being open all year.
