Ibiza firefighters rescued two men stranded on a cliff at Cala Blanca, in the municipality of Santa Eulària, on Monday night after they took the wrong route while trying to return from the beach.

The two men had to call emergency services after realising they were lost and could not make their way back to safety.

According to information released by Ibiza’s Island Fire Service, both men were adults who had gone down to the beach earlier in the day. When they set off to return, they followed the wrong path, which led them to climb up the cliff.

Their situation became more difficult as darkness began to fall. Realising they were in an area that was difficult to access and that they could not find their own way back, they contacted emergency services for assistance.

Rescue Operation Involved Ropes and Drones

A team of eight Ibiza firefighters, including four crew leaders and supported by drones, was dispatched to locate and assist the stranded men.

Given the challenging terrain, firefighters had to climb the cliff from below to reach the point where the two men were trapped. Once they reached them, the team used ropes to help both men descend safely.

The operation began late in the afternoon and continued well into the evening. The rescue was finally completed at 9.46 pm, when both men had been brought to safety.

Both Men Rescued Unharmed

Despite the frightening experience, both men were in good health and required no medical attention.

According to the information provided by the fire service, the men were shaken by what had happened but had suffered no injuries.
