The operation, supported by Formentera’s canine unit, targeted drug possession during one of the busiest weekends of Ibiza’s end-of-season club closing parties, with pink cocaine, or tusi, among the main substances detected.
Sant Antoni Local Police have filed 90 administrative complaints for illegal drug possession during a special operation carried out this weekend as Ibiza’s nightclubs held their end-of-season closing parties. Pink cocaine, also known as tusi, was the substance most frequently detected during the checks.
The operation took place during one of the busiest periods for nightlife in Ibiza and was supported by Formentera Local Police, which provided its canine unit. According to the police report, 86 of the 90 complaints involved foreign nationals.
Pink cocaine among the main substances seized
To strengthen the checks, the operation included six additional officers and Formentera’s canine unit, consisting of a handler and Summer, a trained detection dog.
The checks resulted in 90 reports of offences under Spain’s Organic Law 4/2015 on the protection of public safety, relating to the illegal possession of controlled substances in public places.
Despite the number of complaints, the operation ended without any arrests. Officers did not find quantities of drugs or sufficient evidence to suggest that the substances involved were intended for distribution or sale.
As a result, the police action was limited to processing the relevant administrative complaints for illegal drug possession.
Increased police presence during Ibiza’s nightlife season
Sant Antoni Local Police say the operation forms part of their wider prevention and surveillance efforts during periods when nightlife venues attract particularly large crowds.
The aim of these checks is to “detect and prevent unlawful behaviour, as well as ensure public safety” during the clubs’ end-of-season closing parties.
