Traditional celebrations take centre stage as Sant Miquel marks its main patron saint’s day with music, dance, fireworks and activities for locals and visitors
Sant Miquel celebrated its main festival day on Tuesday with a programme steeped in tradition, bringing together locals and visitors for one of the highlights of the village’s annual patron saint celebrations.
The festivities began with a grand peal of bells, followed by a solemn Mass and procession in honour of the patron saint. One of the day’s most eagerly awaited moments came afterwards, with a performance of ball pagès by the Colla de Balansat, once again putting one of the village’s most deeply rooted traditions in the spotlight.
The celebrations continued into the evening with a live performance by Groove Garage, before coming to a spectacular close with the correfoc by Es Mals Esperits, the group of dimonis i bruixes (devils and witches) whose fire-filled performance is a familiar part of traditional festivities in Ibiza.
