Javier Iglesias has a new title to his name. The 27-year-old representative of the Balearic Islands, who lives in Ibiza, was crowned Mister International Spain 2026 on Saturday during a gala held at the Roman Theatre of Medellín, Badajoz. His national victory marks the beginning of a new chapter, as he prepares to represent Spain in one of the leading international men’s beauty competitions.
Standing at 1.87 metres (6 ft 2 in), Iglesias works as a real estate agent in Ibiza and has an academic background in International Trade as well as Sales and Commercial Space Management. He also speaks English at C1 level. Outside his professional career, his interests include football, sports, travelling and spending time with friends.
The Balearic contestant entered the competition following around six weeks of dedicated preparation, although he already had experience taking part in different types of pageant challenges. In Medellín, Iglesias successfully made it through several stages of the competition before securing a place among the six finalists, alongside the representatives of Tenerife, Jaén, Las Palmas, Cantabria and Ourense.
The sports challenges and the Best Body competition proved particularly important in determining the finalists. Iglesias received one of the strongest scores from the judging panel, keeping him firmly in contention as the competition reached its decisive stages.
In the end, the national crown went to the Balearic Islands representative. José Fernando García Mestre, from Tenerife, finished as first runner-up, while Antón Regal, representing Ourense, took third place.
“It’s a huge source of pride”
Following his victory, Javier Iglesias described the opportunity to represent Spain as “a huge source of pride” and spoke about the happiness the result has brought to his family. He also acknowledged the nerves he experienced during the final moments of the competition, while revealing that he always believed he had a genuine chance of finishing among the top contenders.
One of the most emotional moments came immediately after his crowning. His mother, who had accompanied him throughout the competition and become one of his strongest sources of support, embraced him in tears after hearing the final result.
The gala was hosted by Víctor Cruz and Alba Pérez, Miss International Spain 2024, and featured a live performance by Spanish artist Luitingo. The judging panel included personalities such as Yola Berrocal, José Calle and Alejandro Cifo.
With his victory, Javier Iglesias begins a new chapter that will take him beyond Ibiza. He will now represent Spain at international men’s beauty pageants, where he will compete against contestants from around the world and take his first steps on the international stage.
Mister International Spain is one of Spain’s leading national male beauty pageants, with its winners going on to participate in major international competitions.
