The Dirección General de Tráfico (DGT) has confirmed that Uber’s so-called “Party Van” in Ibiza, which features a live DJ and disco lights, is incompatible with traffic regulations, yet the service continues to operate. The Local Police intercepted the vehicle on Bartomeu de Roselló Avenue, citing it for playing music at an excessive volume and carrying out dangerous manoeuvres, leading to two disciplinary proceedings. This follows a similar complaint ten days earlier. The initiative, launched in partnership with Amnesia nightclub on 23 July, is seen by authorities as a risk to road safety, though while the DGT deems it illegal, enforcement falls to the Local Police or the Guardia Civil de Tráfico. The Consell de Ibiza, however, maintains that the service does not breach local transport regulations.
