It’s really happening. Christmas is over. Properly over. At least until the end of the year — you know what we mean. So this weekend, don’t expect the packed schedule of plans we’ve seen over the past few weeks, because you won’t find it. Unless, of course, you head to Sant Antoni, which is celebrating its big day. It will be the most animal-loving weekend of the year — and no, don’t get the wrong idea. On Saturday, the town of Portmany will be filled with adorable pets in search of protection and new homes.
The main event of the celebrations, the blessing of animals, is scheduled to take place after the midday mass. But if you’re more into animals than religious ceremonies, don’t worry: from 11 a.m. there will be a responsible adoption day at Passeig de ses Fonts, where Fundació Gossos will try to find homes for abandoned dogs. And yes — in the afternoon, evening… and well into the night, there will be tardeo.

As always, music takes centre stage. From candlelight concerts paying tribute to Coldplay and Queen, to the two final days of the Vine al Villangómez gala, along with live performances in various venues and a workshop and concert for children at Can Ventosa. And don’t forget — the Chinese circus will be in town on Saturday night.
On top of all that, the weekend also offers films, talks, excursions, a youth gymkhana, charity events and activities to discover the world of farming.
