The dj Jackmaster, stage name of the Scottish Jack Revill, has died at the age of 38 in Ibiza after “complications following an accidental head injury”, as confirmed by his family through social networks. Apparently the demise occurred yesterday morning, Saturday. “His family, Kate, Sean and Johnny, are devastated. We appreciate the immense support from friends, colleagues and fans, but request privacy while we manage the immense grief of this devastating loss,” they posted on the deejay’s profile.
“Jack’s passion for music and his tireless drive to push creative boundaries through his work at Glasgow’s Numbers label and Rubadub Records, including the discovery of countless innovative artists, made him a beloved and pioneering figure in the electronic music community, both in front of and behind the scenes. His talent for blending genres and delivering electrifying DJ sets and productions earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and fans around the world. His legacy will continue to inspire and his impact on the world of dance music will remain indelible,” the release notes.
Revill was born in Glasgow on January 11, 1986 and worked at the well-known record store Rubadub in his hometown. He was also connected with the labels Wireblock, Dress 2 Sweat, Point.One Recordings, Seldom Felt and TDSR.
This summer he had DJ’d all over Europe, the UK and North America. His last performance was last month at the Ibiza nightclub Hï. After hearing the news, the well-known Amnesia club dedicated to him the closing of this Saturday night paying tribute to him with a big screen with his photo, his date of birth and date of death.
Revill has performed at other famous clubs around the world, several of them in Ibiza, where he was well known, such as DC10Fabric’s ‘Circo Loco’ party, The Warehouse Project, Output, Berghain, Trouw and Sub Club, as well as at festivals such as Glastonbury, Unknown, Lost Village, Dekmantel, Bestival, T in the Park and Dimensions Festival.
