The 10K Ibiza-Platja d’en Bossa presents its most international edition

The event, which will be held on 28 January, is giving details of what is in store in a month's time

One month away from the 4th edition of the 10K Ibiza-Platja d’en Bossa, the organisers are putting together a line-up with a strong international character thanks to a large group of professional athletes.

According to the founder of the competition, Dani Becerra, “the race will have about twenty elite long-distance runners of more than 15 nationalities from Europe, Asia, Africa and America”.

According to what has been specified, the 10 km race between Sant Josep and Ibiza has the spectacle assured with runners from Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Morocco, Japan, China, France, England, Italy, Argentina and Paraguay, among others.

Also, Becerra has expressed his desire to “continue to expand the name of Ibiza around the world through sport”, so he has considered “necessary to continue working to receive foreign athletes and that they become the best ambassadors of the island”.

As for the favorites to win the title on January 28, Becerra has not yet revealed the most important names, but has guaranteed that “there will be several Africans of a very similar level who will compete for the final victory,” he said.

Another of the objectives set by the race direction is to get new athletes to join the select club of the 27 minutes as they did in Platja d’en Bossa: Benson Kiplangat (27:18), Hillary Kipcoech (27:27), Cosmas Mwangi (27:29), Kiprono Sitonik (27:44), Adel Mechaal (27:50) and Geofry Toroitich (27:52).

As every year, the sporting event will also award prizes to the first two local runners (male and female) to cross the finish line.

The 10K Ibiza-Platja d’en Bossa is one of the nine races catalogued of tourist interest by the Consell d’Eivissa. The registration period is still open on the elitechip.net website, where almost 400 runners have already registered.
