Ibiza will have a direct air connection with New York from summer 2027, with United Airlines set to launch a new route between Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Ibiza Airport on May 31, 2027.

The US carrier will operate the route four times a week, providing a new direct link between Ibiza and the New York metropolitan area during the peak summer season.

The new Ibiza-New York service is part of United Airlines’ largest international expansion in its history, with the airline planning to add 10 new destinations across Europe and Asia for the summer 2027 season.

United will also become the only US airline offering nonstop flights to Ibiza, according to the company.

Just two days after launching the Ibiza route, on June 2, 2027, United will also begin operating flights between Newark and Valencia, with three weekly frequencies.

United’s biggest international expansion

The new Ibiza and Valencia services form part of a major expansion of United’s international network.

From Newark, the airline plans to launch new routes to Marseille, Terceira, Ljubljana, Olbia and Catania. United will also expand its network from San Francisco, adding new services to Okinawa and Toulouse, while Washington will gain a new direct connection with Luxembourg City.

The expansion will give travellers from the United States more direct options for reaching a wider range of European destinations, while strengthening United’s presence in the Mediterranean and southern European markets.

New Airbus A321XLR to operate some long-haul routes

Some of the new services will be operated using United’s Airbus A321XLR, the airline’s newest narrow-body long-haul aircraft.

The aircraft has been designed to operate long-distance routes with a single-aisle aircraft, allowing airlines to connect destinations that may not generate enough demand for larger wide-body jets.

United says it has added 58 international destinations to its network over the past decade and currently serves more than 160 destinations outside the United States.

The airline’s 2027 expansion will also include new routes to Osaka, Milan and Paris, alongside the return of several seasonal services launched from Newark this summer.

These include connections to Split, Bari, Glasgow and Santiago de Compostela.

A new direct New York-Ibiza connection for summer 2027

The launch of the United Airlines Ibiza-New York route represents a significant addition to Ibiza’s international air connectivity, particularly for travellers seeking a direct link between the island and the United States.

From May 31, 2027, passengers will be able to fly nonstop between Newark and Ibiza four times per week, providing a new direct connection between one of the world’s largest metropolitan areas and one of Spain’s most internationally recognised Mediterranean destinations.
