Santa Gertrudis will celebrate its Festa Pagesa on Sunday 25 October, bringing together traditional Ibizan music and dancing, local crafts, folk games and regional food. Postponed due to rain and moved from sa Font de cas Ramons to the village square, the event will begin at 11am.

The village of Santa Gertrudis will once again celebrate its rural heritage this Sunday with the Festa Pagesa, a day dedicated to preserving and sharing the traditions of Ibiza’s countryside. Organised by the Grup de Ball Tradicional de Santa Gertrudis, the festivities will start at 11am in the village square, which will become a meeting point for anyone interested in the island’s traditional culture.

The event was originally scheduled for 4 October at sa Font de cas Ramons but had to be postponed because of rain. Heavy rainfall in recent days has also forced organisers to change the venue, as the ground at the original site remains too wet for the planned activities. The celebration will therefore take place in Santa Gertrudis village square.

The programme will showcase some of the best-known expressions of Ibizan folklore, including ball pagès, the island’s traditional country dancing, as well as cantades pageses (traditional rural songs) and sonades (traditional instrumental music).

Visitors will also be able to explore a display of traditional crafts, watch or take part in tirada de bitlles, a traditional bowling game, and enjoy other folk games designed to introduce younger generations to the island’s customs.

One of the highlights will be the participation of Grup Folklòric Brisa de Portmany, which will join the host group and other attendees to share in the celebration.

Traditional Ibizan culture and local food

Food will also play an important role, with frita de porc, a traditional Ibizan pork dish closely associated with popular festivities and the island’s rural heritage.

The event is organised by the Grup de Ball Tradicional de Santa Gertrudis, with support from Santa Eulària Town Council and the Ibiza Island Council. It is open to everyone looking to enjoy a morning of local culture, folklore and traditional food in the heart of the village.
