Luis Miguel Ibáñez Lera, a professional footballer from Ponferrada, Spain, was scammed out of €1,000 after renting a non-existent apartment in Ibiza. He had secured a lifeguard job for the summer in Sant Antoni and found the flat on the Idealista platform. Despite thorough checks and assurances from the supposed landlord, including video calls and shared IDs, the property turned out to be fake. Upon arrival, there was no mailbox with his name at the address. After realising the scam, Ibáñez filed a complaint with the National Police and returned to Ponferrada, highlighting the risks and impact of such fraudulent activities.
