Ibiza’s port became the stage for a unique test flight as Isla Air Express trialed a seaplane service intended to link Ibiza with Palma, Menorca, and eventually Valencia and Alicante. The trial, requiring extensive safety coordination between port authorities, the Guardia Civil, and AENA, showcased the potential of seaplane flights in the high-traffic waters of Ibiza’s port. Although past safety concerns delayed approval, Isla Air’s Antoni Jiménez noted that with further tests, safe routes could be established. The seaplane, accommodating up to 19 passengers, promises sustainability benefits and aims to offer convenient, competitively priced services.
