In September, Ibiza and Formentera experienced a remarkable boost in tourism-related hiring, especially for permanent seasonal workers, with a 54.4% increase compared to 2022. This resulted in a record-breaking 3,063 permanent seasonal contracts. Hiring in the region overall increased by 14.6%, contrary to the usual September decline, driven mainly by the hospitality industry. The number of permanent contracts in this sector surged by 77.2%. Unemployment continued to decline across sectors, with the construction industry reaching historically low levels. There were 850 long-term unemployed individuals and 795 individuals over 55 years old without work.
