On a bright Saturday morning, the Plaza del Parque in Ibiza transformed into a scene reminiscent of the 1970s, as approximately 100 individuals donned in hippie attire gathered at the behest of the Pereyra Theater. This assembly was part of a video recording for Nacho Cano’s musical show, ‘Ibiza Hippie Heaven’, coinciding with the theater’s eagerly anticipated reopening. The participants, who arrived at 10 a.m. and had no prior experience, were compensated for their time in the sun with drink vouchers and a meal ticket, courtesy of the organizers. This event not only aimed to contribute to the revival of the theater, set to open in early May, but also resonated with attendees like Sandra, Carol, Ana, Francesca, Natalia, and Fina, who were inspired by familial connections to the venue’s legacy. The shoot featured Cano and his team leading the crowd through dance steps, capturing a narrative of hippies ousted from a dance casting, yet resiliently dancing in the plaza. The session, filled with enthusiasm and a live rendition of the Rolling Stones’ ‘Satisfaction’, wrapped up around 2 p.m., leaving participants reflecting on a unique experience and the anticipation of the theater’s return to operation in 2024.
