The Guardia Civil has arrested a 53-year-old man in Ibiza over his alleged involvement in drug trafficking and membership of a criminal organisation operating between the island and mainland Spain.

The arrest forms part of Operation Cavalieri, an investigation led by the Ibiza Territorial Judicial Police Unit of the Guardia Civil. So far, the operation has resulted in 26 arrests, along with the seizure of 1,558 kilograms of cocaine and nearly 11 tonnes of hashish.

As part of those enquiries, officers located and arrested another alleged member of the group on the morning of Thursday, 24 September, according to a statement released by the Guardia Civil.
