The artist and creative director of K de Kosekose showcases ‘Saqqara’, a textile and copper creation, at an international jewellery exhibition in Santiago.
Ibizan artist Ariadna Ferrer de Benito, creative director of K de Kosekose, has taken her distinctive approach to contemporary jewellery to Chile. The designer took part in Joya de Oficio 2026, an international exhibition held from 30 October to 1 November at the El Tranque Cultural Centre in Lo Barnechea, Santiago. The event brought together more than 40 artists and creators specialising in contemporary and independent jewellery.
Ferrer de Benito presented ‘Saqqara’, one of her signature creations, made by combining reclaimed textiles and copper. Developed in her Ibiza studio, the piece explores the relationship between contemporary jewellery, textile art and the island’s collective memory.
The artist describes ‘Saqqara’ as an “active and contemporary instrument for preserving the memory of Ibiza”. Its creation involves the use of the canelón technique, which features prominently throughout her work and transforms textile materials into pieces that bring together craftsmanship, design and sculpture.
Her participation in the exhibition came at the invitation of the Lo Barnechea Cultural Corporation, through the mediation of Doris Cancino, director of The Sensory Mag, a publication that also promotes the Joya de Oficio Awards.
A tribute to Paco Rabanne
‘Saqqara’ is part of a series of three works, alongside ‘Ziggurat’ and ‘Non Fiction Textile Biography’, inspired by the work of Paco Rabanne, the designer who revolutionised fashion through his use of metal and experimental materials.
Through these creations, Ferrer de Benito explores the boundaries between jewellery and clothing. ‘Non Fiction Textile Biography’, for example, is a handcrafted jewellery dress made from a mesh of textiles and copper that envelops the body.
“What began as a simple exercise in reinterpreting materials eventually became an identity,” the artist explains.
Taking Ibizan contemporary design to the international stage
Ferrer de Benito’s presence in Chile adds another international milestone to a career that includes the 2020 Adoc Contemporary Jewellery Award, participation in the Joya Barcelona fair, and exhibitions at Madrid’s National Museum of Decorative Arts and a gallery in New York.
In 2025, she also took part in ‘Contemporania’, an exhibition held at Barcelona’s Palau de Pedralbes.
Born in Ibiza, Ferrer de Benito studied contemporary dance, performing arts and fashion design in Barcelona before returning to the island to establish her own creative studio.
She is now the creative director of K de Kosekose, an independent fashion label that has presented collections since 2016 and received the 2022 Balearic Islands Tourism Award for Tourism Innovation.
