Chemsex is the intentional use of drugs to enhance the sexual experience, primarily among gay and bisexual men. Substances like GHB, methamphetamine, and mephedrone are commonly used. While GHB, known as “chorri,” produces effects akin to alcohol but more potent, the others stimulate and foster connection. Although it’s not exclusive to sex, these drugs are also used for partying. The practice can increase the risk of STIs and addiction, particularly when drugs like methamphetamine are injected. As for the Balearic Islands, while not confirmed, the high tourist influx may make it more prevalent there. Approaching Chemsex with sensitivity and support is essential, recognizing it’s not always problematic, just as social drinking isn’t. For the full article, please visit Diario de Ibiza website here.
