The famous travel guide Lonely Planet has conducted a survey of its large community of travellers on Instagram asking which is the best beach in Spain to enjoy this summer. The survey, in which more than 60,000 travellers took part, has determined that ses Illetes, in Formentera, is the favourite beach among tourists.
The Pitiusan site repeats as the favorite of Lonely Planet’s followers. On this occasion, the candidate beaches totaled a total of 32 beaches of the peninsula and the islands, which have been subjected to a competition based on eliminations, they explain.
The competition featured round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals and finally, the final. The decision was between such a Mediterranean beach as Ses Illetes and the Atlantic beach of Rodas, located in the Cíes Islandsin Galicia. Finally, the Formentera beach won by 59% over the remaining 41%. In third and fourth position, the travelers chose the cofete beach (Fuerteventura, Canary Islands), and es Trench beachin Mallorca, respectively.
Other Spanish beaches that were among the possible choices were Macarelleta Beach (Menorca), La Ballota (Llanes, Asturias), La Concha de San Sebastian, Guipuyuri (Asturias) or Bolonia beach, in Cadiz.
