One thousand traps delivered to individuals to combat proliferation of snakes in Ibiza

The Santa Eulària Town Council is planning to release another 400 capture points this year

The Santa Eulària des Riu Town Council hopes to deliver one thousand traps this year to individuals to combat a proliferation of snakes in the municipality. In addition, traps have been installed, managed by a pest control company in specific points and an application has been created to monitor and manage the cages to optimize their use and the Consistory can consistently collaborate with the Balearic Cofib and the Eivissa Island Council.

At the end of last April, an act was convened at the Palau de Congressos for the distribution, together with the SOS Sargantana entity, with 150 traps (the Sant Joan City Council delivered another 50). Workshops have also been held for individuals and for students of the Quartó del Rei institute, in which cages have also been delivered, and similar events have been held in Jesús, Sant Carles and es Puig d’en Valls, they say from the City Council. In this way, this year it is expected to have 400 capture points with another 600 delivered by the City Council in the coming years to reach 1,000 active traps.

In addition, a person has been hired to manage the traps that have been delivered to the Hunting Federation to also contribute to the control of the animal, in addition to including in the pest control contract, some traps located in urban environments or near municipal facilities.
