Skipper of charter yacht assaulted in s’Espalmador and Ibiza port

The yacht was chartered by three Australians who injured the captain's nose, jaw and ears

The skipper of a charter boat, the ‘Astute’, was brutally assaulted yesterday morning by a client, of Australian nationality while he was anchored in the islet of s’Espalmador, in Formentera. But the aggression occurred again upon arrival at one of the marinas in the port of Ibiza, where this boat is based.

The moment of the aggression in s’Espalmador was recorded on video from another boat that was very close by. The images show how a burly man in excellent physical condition violently pushes the skipper of the ‘Astute’, throwing him with great force backwards onto the mats at the stern of the boat. Then the aggressor throws himself on top of him, while those who are recording the images begin to shout at him to stop, to cease the aggression, which he finally does.

The skipper then asks those who have recorded the images to send them to him. According to Diario de Ibiza, after the aggression the skipper immediately went to the port and once there he was assaulted again by two people.

Apparently he has a fractured nose, wounds in the jaw and ears, in addition to other injuries, as confirmed by himself from the hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

The skipper, who requested anonymity, explained that the discussion began because the three people, all Australians, who hired the services of this yacht charter wanted to extend the contracted time of the boat. But as the company had planned another trip at a specific time, the skipper urged them to take two of the customers who had jumped into the water. This led to the fight that can be seen in the images. The captain of the boat explained that on the way back to Ibiza the crossing was calm, but when arriving at port these clients got into a fight with him and caused him injuries, especially to his face, affecting his nose, jaw and ears. The Civil Guard is investigating the facts.
