The Pintxa Sant Antoni is back after two years suspended due to the pandemic. The municipality is bringing back the gastronomic event with the participation of around twenty establishments, the main novelty this year being the croqueta competition.
Also, another new feature is that the venues will be able to have live music, with prior authorisation from the Town Hall, “with the aim of setting the scene and promoting this event, which is so important for the municipality”, said the first deputy mayor, Joan Torres, yesterday. This will be the thirteenth edition of Pintxa Sant Antoni, which will be held every Thursday fromย March 24th to April 14th.
The protagonists of this contest are the pinchos, which cost 2.50โฌ with drink included; the tapas, 4.50โฌ with drink, and the ‘Caprichos‘, more elaborate culinary creations with prices to be chosen by the establishments. This year, in addition, the establishments will present a croqueta for the competition and the best one will be awarded after the jury’s evaluation.
Torres, and the vice president of hospitality for Pimeef, Miquel Tur, announced the details of Pintxa yesterday during the presentation of the event at the Consistory. “We are very happy to be able to hold this event again, which will serve to boost the restaurant sector, so that it can start up before the tourist season and return to normality after having had such a bad time during the pandemic,” said Torres.
For his part, Miquel Tur stressed that “the idea is to relaunch these traditional events in Sant Antoni to encourage people to return to the village and give locals the opportunity to start the season in the most normal way possible”.
20 establishments to participate in Pintxa Sant Antoni
Torres encouraged all the island’s citizens to come to Sant Antoni “to taste these small gastronomic samples with the aim of making it a success again, always respecting health safety measures”.
The event is expected to involve about twenty establishments, although the registration period is still open for interested businesses to join this initiative.
