Vicent Boned Ribas, an aspiring designer from Sant Antoni de Portmany, achieved a third place in the individual adult fancy dress category at the Carnival of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Overwhelmed by his success, Ribas cherishes the trophy that symbolizes his achievement. His elaborate costume, a self-designed bull outfit complete with horns and high-heeled boots, represented his astrological sign, Taurus, and his own empowered persona. The costume was a collaborative effort, with his mother, Margarita Ribas, a key contributor. Ribas, who has a background in graphic design and is a self-taught artistic makeup artist, spent a month developing his winning design. His participation in the Carnival was a dream realized, a journey that began in 2022 as a spectator. Ribas’s commitment to the Carnival extends beyond his personal participation, as he also contributes to the broader event, including working on the costume of the previous year’s Carnival Queen. The Carnival continues, with Ribas involved in assisting a drag queen contestant, showcasing his dedication to the cultural festival.
