Government greenlights Ca n’Escandell urbanization for 532 dwellings

Sepes gives the green light to the contracting of the works and of the large urban park in the area

The Sepes (State Land Entity) has already approved the contracting file for the urbanization works of the whole area and the creation of the large urban park in the area of Ca n’Escandell, in the municipality of Ibiza. With a base bidding budget of 14,173,720.40 € (VAT included), the execution period has been set at 16 months. The area of action occupies 14.48 hectares of land, ceded by the previous government of the Ibiza Town Hall, and will allow the development of approximately 532 dwellings subject to the protection regime.

The approval was celebrated yesterday by the PSOE, which considers that the “definitive step” has been taken to build the subsidized housing that has been in the pipeline for years.

The Ibizan deputy of the PSOE, Milena Herrera, said in a note: “Today the Government of Spain takes a very important step in the commitment to make public housing in the city and on the island of Ibiza. And it is this tender that now begins to urbanize the neighborhood of Ca n’Escandell and thus be able to provide services that will later need housing. It is a tender that will involve works for an amount exceeding 14 million euros and also incorporates this great citizen demand, which is the public park that will have the neighborhood of Ca n’Escandell and, therefore, now is the beginning of this project that has been underway for many years, working from different progressive and socialist governments and is now very close to start, “said Herrera

The urbanization project contemplates the execution of all the necessary works for the development of the area, from earthworks to the installation of service networks such as water supply, sewage, electricity, telecommunications and more. In addition, the construction of the urban park will be included to improve the quality of life of the residents and will be enjoyed by all citizens.
