The Sant Antoni Carnival parade has already set a date, and the Town Council’s Fiestas Department has opened the registration period to take part in it. Music and colour will invade the streets of the town on Tuesday 13th February from 5 p.m. onwards.
As explained by the consistory in a press release, “participants may register in the categories adult, youth (12 to 18 years) or child (up to 11 years), in the individual or couple, comparsa on foot or float with vehicle. In addition, they may compete in another category schools and institutes of the municipality”.
Those interested in participating can register until February 9 at the Centre d’Informació Jove (Espai Jove building) or through the electronic headquarters.
The concentration and departure of the rally is scheduled at Doctor Fleming Avenue at 4.30 pm. Then it will go along the first stretch of Portmany Avenue, Passeig de ses Fonts and Passeig de la Mar until returning back to the starting point. At the end of the parade, the awards ceremony for the best costumes will take place in the Passeig de ses Fonts. “This year has increased the amount of the prizes in the category of troupes and floats with vehicle and schools and institutes, so that a total of 12,000 euros in prizes will be distributed,” says the City Council.
The jury will be formed by representatives of different associations or entities of the municipality, which will take into account, at the time of scoring, aspects such as originality, creativity, recycling, animation, elaboration of the float or costume design.
