Readers of the travel and lifestyle trade publication, Condé Nast Traveler, have chosen a year the best beach in Spain. The winner was Cala Bassa at Ibiza, selected first as the best beach in the Balearic Islands and later as the best beach in Spain among ten other finalists from different Autonomous Communities.
Condé Nast Traveler is a reference publication in destinations and experiences and highlights this beach for being a paradise of crystal clear waters and golden sand, today known by travelers from all over the world. “Belonging to the municipality of Sant Josep de Sa Talaia, Cala Bassa is famous for its natural beauty and unique atmosphere. The spectacular surrounding landscape, dotted with pine and juniper trees, offers an idyllic setting where the turquoise tones of the sea blend with the green of the vegetation. It is a sandy beach with rocks on both sides, ideal for fishing. A pine forest surrounding the beach invites to a long walk or a well-deserved siesta in the shade. The shallow waters are calm and transparent, perfect for water sports and highly recommended for families with children,” he describes.
Last year was the Zarautz beach, in Guipuzcoa, the one that won the award.
As in previous editions, the voting process was divided into two phases: readers began voting on May 20 for their favorite beach among the four selected by Condé Nast Traveler’s team of specialists within each Autonomous Community.
Then, in a second round, the finalist beaches, one per Autonomous Community, competed for the gold medal for a month.
