The best plans for this weekend in Ibiza and Formentera

This first weekend in February sees the return of one of the most eagerly awaited gastronomic events on the Sant Antoni fiestas programme, the World Matanzas Rice Championship, which will be held in s’Era d’en Manyà on Saturday the 3rd of February from 11:30 am. As a novelty, this year there will also be a junior competition for schools, which will be held the day before, starting at 11 a.m. at the same place.

On Friday, also in Sant Antoni, at 8.30 p.m., the pianist Edurne Chivite and the string quartet formed by Neus Guasch, Carlos García, Gabriel López and Alejandra Quezada will offer in the parish church of the locality a free candlelight concert in which they will perform compositions by Ludovico Einaudi and soundtracks from films such as ‘La La Land’ or ‘The choirboys’. The event will be presented by Bartomeu Tur, artistic director of Sonora, the cultural entity producing the experience, and recently appointed director of Culture of the City Council of Sant Josep.

Another highlight of the celebrations of the patron saint of Sant Antoni, in this case sports, is the Marcha Cicloturista des Porquet, scheduled on February 4 from 11 am.

On the other hand, on the occasion of the commemoration on Sunday of the World Cancer Dayseveral activities have been scheduled these days in Ibiza. Between Thursday and Sunday will be held ‘Sant Josep against cancer’. There will be activities of all kinds, such as workshops, round tables or yoga sessions, which will be held in different locations: the multipurpose center of Sant Jordi, the sports center Can Burgos, the auditorium Caló de s’Oli, the school Sant Jordi and the sports center Can Guerxo.

Another event to take into account is the charity golf tournament ‘World Cancer Day’whose benefits will go to the IFCC association. It will take place at the Golf Ibiza facilities this Sunday from 9 am.

Solidarity Golf Tournament ‘World Cancer Day’.

9 am. Event framed in the international commemoration of this disease, and in which all proceeds will go entirely to the association pitiusa IFCC. Those interested in participating in this activity must register at the reception of Golf Ibiza at a cost of 40 euros for members and 60 euros for non-members. This sporting event will take place in the facilities of Golf Ibiza, an enclave located 7 kilometers from the capital of the island, between Jesús and Santa Eulària.
