Here are the best plans for this weekend on Ibiza and Formentera

From the devotion of Easter to the fun of the Movida and the Tour Jordier, this weekend has it all

This weekend is a mix of Semana Santa celebrations, with the main processions and festive activities, that will peak on Saturday with the La Movida de Sant Antoni festival and with the Tour Jordier in Sant Jordi.

The Semana Santa processions include those on Maundy Thursday on Formentera and, above all, those on Good Friday, in Ibiza and Santa Eulària, which always attract hundreds of devotees over the weekend. And also those of the Santo Encuentro (Holy Encounter), which on Sunday morning bid farewell to the Semana Santa events.

There is a double date with fun on Saturday, starting in the morning with the Tour Jordier, with tapas and music in the bars of Sant Jordi and the travelling music truck, in which The Groovy Brothers and Eivisurfers will alternate. And La Movida, which returns in April after not being able to be held in January due to pandemic restrictions. DJs Petit and Vázquez will be playing as usual and there will be a handful of special guests. Although it was planned to be held on the beach, in the end they have opted for the port car park.

Music also plays a prominent role this weekend, with concerts on Thursday and Sunday by the trio of the young and talented Ibizan musician Andrés Coll, accompanied by the Polish violinist Mateusz Smoczynski, with an interesting offering of ethnic jazz.

And no less intriguing are the performances this weekend by the ‘Dies Musicals’ programme, with the audiovisual show by the duo Heklos on Thursday in Sant Joan and the carefree jazz of Pizza 4BRKFST, on Sunday in es Caó de s’Oli.

And there is still room in the weekend agenda for cinema, magic, or the tradition and ‘caramelles de Pasqua’ (Easter sweets):
