Eyes are firmly fixed on the sky — and not precisely to follow the Star of Bethlehem. This is the situation for the Three Wise Men and their pages, as rain forecasts threaten to complicate the traditional Epiphany parades across the Pitiusas. The wise men from the East, the true protagonists of the final weekend of the Christmas holidays, may see their processions affected by heavy rainfall, preventing them from parading through the streets and sharing their magic with children in person. Weather conditions will therefore play a decisive role over the coming days. That said, children in Ibiza and Formentera need not worry: even if the parades are cancelled or moved indoors, the Three Wise Men will still make their way to homes as tradition dictates.
Beyond the royal processions, Christmas markets will continue in most municipalities, offering a last chance for festive shopping and the opportunity to enjoy a drink outdoors to the sound of live music. In addition — and unaffected by the rain — the royal letter carriers will visit different venues across the islands to collect children’s letters filled with wishes and dreams. Perhaps what Santa Claus did not leave behind will appear in shoes on the morning of January 6, thanks to the magic of Their Majesties.

This weekend will also feature a theatrical performance in which one of the Christmas tree baubles comes to life to tell its dream of becoming the star at the top of the tree (Teatro Pereyra, January 2, 5 p.m.). Ballet also returns, as it traditionally does at this time of year (8 p.m., January 2, at the Ibiza Conference Centre).
On Saturday, from 11 a.m., the Fira de la Sobrassada will be held in Sant Josep, weather permitting. The event had to be postponed a few weeks ago due to heavy rain. Throughout the weekend, Can Bonet will also host the festivities in honour of the Holy Family.
