Arrested a young man of 30 years for the fire that has devastated a restaurant in Formentera

The arrested man may have set the fire in revenge after being fired

The Guardia Civil has confirmed the arrest of a 30-year-old Italian man in connection with Thursday’s fire at a restaurant in Cala Saona, Formentera, which was extinguished at 1 p.m., according to the island council.

According to the Armed Forces, the detainee may have caused the fire in revenge after being firedo. The fire started around 6.15 a.m. today, Thursday, and caused “significant” material damage, although no personal injuries were reported.

The formentera firefighters received a warning that the restaurant A mi manera, at the beginning of the road to Cala Saona, was on fire, as reported by the Consell insular.

Four firefighters with two fire trucks were sent to the scene of the fire. The Consell explained that when the firefighters arrived, the fire had spread throughout the premises. At that moment they requested a private water bucket and called in two other firefighters who were on standby.
