Carnival is one of the most joyful and colorful festivities in the world. Every year millions of people take to the streets in costumes to enjoy this festivity. The City Council of Ibiza does not want to be less and that is why this Tuesday morning presented at the Paseo de Vara de Rey the program of activities of the Carnival 2025 Ibiza.
The carnival activities will start on Dijous Llarder (February 27) at 6 pm with the children’s music show ‘Charlie and the recycling factory’, followed by a children’s costume contest and a popular omelette in Vara de Rey. This will be free for the first 600 attendees.
One of the highlights of the Ibiza Carnival is, once again this year, the rúa. This will be held on Saturday March 1 from five in the afternoon, after the big party that will begin the most festive day of these days, which will link more than 13 hours of music and uninterrupted activities. The parade of comparsas will start from the avenue of Santa Eulària and continue along the avenues of Bartomeu Roselló and Isidor Macabich, the street of País Valencià, the avenue of Spain and final stop at Vara de Rey. On the route is expected “the participation of more than 1000 people,” according to the City Council.
During the presentation, the Councillor for Festivals and Neighborhoods of Ibiza, Francisco Torres Haro, has pointed out that Carnival “is a fun time to spend with the family and enjoy it together while dressing up”. Torres added: “This party is the best excuse to express oneself in a way that, in another context, could not be done”. The councilman confirmed that the approximate budget for this edition was “about 50,000 euros”.
The Ibiza Carnival concludes on Wednesday, March 5 with the popular Burial of the Sardine and its funeral parade. The organization will be in charge of the Association of Neighbors of Es Clot. Its president, Pepe Perez, has pointed out that the celebration with which Lent is received will include “a cabaret starring about 45 dancers”. He also detailed that the City Council has provided about “70 kilos of sardines”.
Other protagonists of this edition are the associations of families of children with cancer of the Balearic Islands (Aspanob) and Aid to the Displaced Sick of the Balearic Islands (Asamdib). Their delegate in Ibiza and Formentera, Carmen Vargas, explained that the big party on Saturday will include “a popular chocolate party and a costume contest, among other things”.
